Kharkov: Educational and Scientific center of Ukraine

Kharkov is considered to be educational and scientific capital of Ukraine. With 11 universities and a large amount of academies, institutes and colleges it provides education for thousands of young people from Ukraine, Russia and other countries. The real development and gowth of Kharkov started only with the establishment of the Kharkov National University in 1805, so it is truly the city of students. Today there are three big universities which prepare specialists for IT industry in Kharkov. These are V.N Karazin Kharkov National University, Kharkov National University of Radio Electronics and Kharkov National Polytechnic University. With these three major universities the IT sphere in Kharkov is growing stronger every year providing specialists for the top companies in Ukraine and Russia. Many of these specialists work in the USA, Germany, UK, Canada and other countries.

Kharkov National V.N. Karazin University was opened on 29th January, 1805. At that time it stimulated the development of Kharkov as an educational, cultural and scientific centre. Kharkov National University has a glorious 200 year history and the university today is famous not only in Ukraine but also in Europe. Lots of famous scientists worked or studied in this university, among them three Nobel Prize winners. Students graduating from Computer and Math faculties are considered very good IT specialists. Also the University provides specialists not directly involved in IT, such as translators, technical writers and managers.

Kharkov National University of Radio Electronics is relatively young but provides the best computer education in Kharkov. Specialties range from modern Informatics, Software Engineering, Artificial Intelligence and E-Commerce to practical things like Medical Electronics, Radiotechnique and Printing. Kharkov National University of Radio Electronics also participates in various international programs, collaborations and provides education for foreign students. It is the main place for real computer geeks, students from the University of Radio Electronics can be found in almost every software company and dozens of startups were done by the students of this University.

Kharkov National Polytechnic University is one of the oldest technical universities in Ukraine. It was founded in 1885. At that time there were only two faculties: technical and chemical. Today Kharkov Polytechnic University is the third largest technical university in Ukraine. 23 different faculties provide places for over 4000 students every year and cover most fields of modern technology from computes and machinery to theoretical physics. This university constantly provides the IT sphere in Kharkov with human resources.
